Synthesis of metal nano-particles
Generally particles with a diameter smaller than 100 nanometers (10-9 m) called nanoparticles.
In recent years many methods to produce nanoparticles, especially metallic nanoparticles are introduced which most of them are chemical methods. In chemical methods, Metal salts are used the most but to separate them as cations from the salt, it requires to add chemicals that are often toxic and this is one of the disadvantages of chemical methods to produce nanoparticles. Electric discharge method is an inexpensive and repeatable method of nanoparticle synthesis that for maintenance of particle size, high frequency is applied.
There is little research in nanoparticle formation in liquids. More researches showed that thermal effects are significant in nanoparticle formation that occurs as a result of electrode bombardment by charged particles. Electrons and ions which gain enough energy from electric field of plasma to ionize dielectric molecules cause the generation of secondary electrons and ions.
